Q: What the heck are "donut" radio commercials, anyway?
A:"Donut" commercials are just like radio jingles. They have "holes" in them where the advertiser's content is placed. We speak with you to get your advertising information and fill in the holes ourselves before delivery.
Q: Why does up to half of each radio commercial seem to have little or nothing to do with my business?
A:Many reasons. The first, harsh reality is: the vast majority of people who will be presented your commercials are not, yet your customers; do not care about your particular business; may not think they are in the market right now and have no reason to listen to your commercials.
Our responsibility is to 1. Get and hold the audience’s attention and 2. Generate an emotional response – any emotional response – that will be hooked into your business, offer or promotion. (Some of the most effective television advertisers keep their product, service or brand a secret until the last 4 seconds! There are reasons for this.
People move and buy on emotion – first. That’s where broadcast advertising functions best. If the products, pricing and services at the Point of Purchase are also satisfactory, people will continue to buy and support you.
Broadcasting a list is, comparatively, extremely non-productive and boring to an audience. The way to overcome this relatively ineffective practice is in making huge time-buys. This is not an option for most of our clients.
Those who are already interested in what you are offering – the “low-lying fruit”, so to speak – will be picked up anyway. What is more important is influencing those who are not yet supporting your business!
Q: Why are these radio commercials so inexpensive – I mean, cheap!?
A:Very few advertisers can justify the added expense of having Creative produced at extra cost. It is far more practical for advertisers and efficient for Radio Creek to provide 10 series to 10 similar advertisers around the country at $599.00 for each series than it is to deliver 1 series for $3500.00! Plus, there are far more advertisers who can justify this smaller amount for their campaigns. This is great for everybody!
Now Advertisers Have Access to That Big City-Slicker Radio Creative at exceptionally affordable Prices!!
Plus, clients who hire agencies to produce their commercials almost always want to participate in the creative process – an extremely frustrating, time-consuming and expensive process. All of a sudden, clients become “experts” at creating advertising. Agencies will support that fantasy – for a fee.
Q: Why are so many of your ads so complex?
A: Radio Creek commercials are designed for presentation many times. Listeners tend to pay more attention when there is something to understand or to “get” more fully.
There are very few unsophisticated markets just as there are very few toothless banjo players. Almost everyone has access to the best in Radio, Television, Newspapers and Magazines. It takes sophisticated advertising to engage and influence them.
Q: Does Radio Creek do the full radio commercial production?
A:Yes! We speak with you to get your content information and produce all 3 spots before delivery. However, radio stations can produce the inserts quite professionally and quickly. Besides, you may wish to make a number of copy-changes along the way and hiring us to do them can drive the costs up fairly quickly. If threatened with money, however, we will do it for a nominal fee of $99 per spot.
Q: What if – as an advertiser – I don’t like the Radio Creek commercials?
A:Then you probably won’t buy them. And that would be unfortunate. The commercials aren’t for you or your staff. They are for the radio-audience – people who know little or nothing about your business and, so far, may not even care. Information without an emotional attachment is not Advertising – it’s another, boring List. Further, using Radio or any other medium to tell an audience how wonderful, sophisticated, friendly and service-oriented your business may be…. is a waste of advertising resources… even if it’s true! An audience – until they have the experience firsthand – won’t believe it.
Q: How much radio-time should I buy?
A:The most efficient strategy is to a.) Identify the station(s) that reach your target audience. b.) Plan to run consistently on at least one station – continuously - but no more than 21 occasions per week. If your budget allows for more, then buy more. This, only if you are comfortable with the additional costs. A terrific broadcast-advertising strategy is in communicating with one group of people regularly rather than communicating to a larger group – occasionally. This is also far less expensive!
Q: Which Radio Creek Ads in the 3-ad series do I run?
A:Radio Creek Ad-series are designed to be run in sequence and over time! Each ad can run for a month (more or less) followed by the next for a month or so and then the third spot for another month. (Note:) Your radio station can regularly change the content of your ads as often as you think necessary or useful. They can even take, say, the first ad and make 2 or 3 ads – each with different content. These ads will then be run “in rotation”. There will be the continuity of the Radio Creek portions of the ad, and yet you will still be advertising more material. And the station does this production for Free!
Q: Can I put music under the radio commercials?
A:Absolutely! And it's a good idea! Your radio station can choose and mix any number of appropriate music beds for your spots. There are only a couple of exceptions within our catalog where music is embedded.
